Míra—Poema Español por Rebekah Keith (LHS Class of ’13)
Mírate a ti mismo.
Mirarte a ti mismo es mirar a tu corazón,
Y contestas todas tus dudas.
¿Cómo?
¿Por qué?
¿Adónde?
Lo sabes todo al mirar el corazón.
Mírate a ti mismo.

Look—Spanish Poem by Rebekah Keith
Look at yourself.
To look at yourself is to look at your heart,
And answer all of your own doubts
How?
Why?
Where to?
You know everything when you look into your own heart.
Look at yourself.

Juntos—Poema Español por Rebekah Keith
Tomar es muy fácil.
Pero amar es difícil.
Los dos se conocen—
Juntos viven,
y estamos aprendiendo,
quienes somos verdaderamente?

Together—Spanish Poem by Rebekah Keith
To take is very easy.
But to love is hard.
And they know the other;
Together they live,
But they are not calm;
But they are not satisfied.
Are two roads diverging?
Are we torn between two masters?
Do actions speak louder than words?
Or is it just possible that the world is turning,
The sun is rising,
And we are learning
Who we really are?
Questions for Further Writing:
If you were to do a little "looking" into your own heart these days...what would you find? What doubts would you answer?
Write a brief poem describing the way you felt at a particularly important moment in your life (your first kiss, the moment you felt someone's love, the day you got a good grade on an assignment, the day you lost a family member, etc.). Then describe your poem in an essay of three paragraphs (inspiration, composition, and interpretation).
Describe what you interpreted from the last sentence in "Juntos," enumerating the strengths and weaknesses of Keith's position.
